Former Y&R chairman and chief executive Hamish McLennan has been appointed to the board of REA Group, shortly after being hired to a senior role at News Corporation.
McLennan was recently appointed as executive vice president, office of the chairman, at News Corporation. News Corporation subsidiary News Limited is the majority shareholder in REA Group.
REA Group chair Richard Freudenstein said, “I am delighted to welcome Hamish to the REA Group Board. He is a highly-regarded media industry executive with extensive digital marketing and branding expertise in leading a large, multi-national business, both of which are a natural fit for REA Group.”
The news comes as REA reports an 18% lift in revenue for the six months to 31 December 2011, while net profit increased 32% to $41.21 million.
REA Group is a digitally based company, which owns websites such as realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au.
