I can't say, like Neil, that Apple ruined my life - I'm sitting in the middle of my 3 Macs now, all cranking something. But Apple et al including Adobe did introduce the era when any gormless drip can be a writer or art director/designer. Once upon a time Google, Windows and Adobe Suite had to be in your head, or don't bother showing up. It made for sweet level of wit and intellect in the office.
